Born in Glasgow in 1961, Robert was apprenticed to his uncle’s upholstery business for five years, drawing and painting in his spare time. In 1983 he took a diploma in Art and Design at Cardonald College, Glasgow. Following this he took up painting full time with remarkable success.

He has taken part in many group shows, mainly in Scotland, and a number of successful one-man exhibitions. He works in acrylic and mixed media using strong but perfectly balanced colours. Many of his works border on the semi abstract, andsome are in collage.
