George Goodwin Kilburne RI 1839 - 1924

Artists > George Goodwin Kilburne RI 1839 - 1924

Kilburne was a London genre painter in watercolour, and an engraver. He studied for five years with the Dalziel brothers who were engravers and illustrators. Much of his work was set in the 18th and early 19th centuries, though he also produced some fine paintings in the later Victorian period. He was a very popular artist and many prints were made of his work. He exhibited at the RA from 1863 to 1918, and widely elsewhere.

The Next Dance is a particularly fine example of his work. It is in untouched condition and has never been out of its original frame, though the frame needs some restoration.
